John died last fall but it wasn't until May 16th that someone found his soul. It was wrapped up in rags in a box that also contained a shoe, a stack of doilies, an old magazine, and a partially eaten bag of potato chips.
It was Amy, the cute little girl from across the street, who found it. She had been playing with a stereotype and it slipped out of her hand and bounced down the gully into the little hollow where the box was.
At the time of discovery, John's soul was colored a light blue with a ring of sunset orange around its periphery. However, now that it had found its way to the mantle above Amy's family fireplace, it glowed a nebulous green and its corona was bright yellow.
Amy's father Ted liked to look at it from his easy chair, directing a studied glance or two towards the soul from between the pages of his old fashioned newspaper.
John’s soul wasn't happy. How it got transformed into an inanimate object was anybody's guess, but at least it was comfortable sitting there on the mantle.
Amy had a cat. Like any decent cat, this cat was an inquisitive sort and it had seen the soul on the mantle for several days. One day, the cat leaped onto the mantle and began to play with John’s soul. It wasn't a rough house type of play but more of a batting about sort of affair. Unfortunately, the mantle was only so wide and the cat knocked John's soul off the ledge with a soft swoop of its paw.
John’s soul dropped to the floor and made a wet squishy sound when it hit.
Amy's dog promptly showed up and ate it in three bites. The dog didn't think it was anything special and it went to its cushion, lay down, and slept. After an hour of digestion, the dog started farting small green clouds of gas. After the last one, John’s soul was finally free.

Hahaha, I loved the idea of ‘Amy dropping her stereotype’ and of course the fact that she found John’s soul, and from there it all ended in farting. Only your genius style would come up with that hilarious twist of fate, I mean freedom.
Keep on letting these stories out, like the dawg, lol.
Thanks for adding that sky color, brings back warm memories.
